McKin family farmers

the Irish Times data is taken apparently from Griffith Valuations of the 1850s approx and there are 5 entries here http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/ it is a free web site and all the Mc Kin's are around Dundalk with 1 townlands near Omeath on the Louth / Down border. Down is now in Northern Ireland. The valuations come with a little map df area. There is a recent website of this area called 

http://www.carlingfordpeople.ie/nThismcovers the area including Omeath.

On the census of 1901 there are no McKins see http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/ but what screams at me is there is a more common name here Mackin or Macken and they are around County Louth.

you can get certs from the Irish Times site or here http://ifhf.rootsireland.ie/?gclid=COmov7SA4rcCFW4q2wodsQwA2Q both charge but you can do limited searching.

there are other sites that give ownership such as http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp Here there are only 2McKin's but a number of Mackins in Louth circa 1830 and John is in Stabanon. Names only given so a leap of faith is required. 

The Valuation Office will have records of land transfers but you will hardly hop on a bus to check as they are not on line. The famine was 1845 to 1850 .

There are one or two more sites I could recommend for checking back further always assuming the info was on them. 

They will only give names of people and little else. Let me know if you want any further info but I believe the name evolved to Mackin.

looked in the Book of Irish Surnames by McLysaght and it gives McKinn as sometimes McGinn and evolved to King (do not know why). It gives not mention to McKin.

I searched the Griffiths Valuations for McKinn and got 7 more in Louth and more nationwide.

Also 13 McKinn's in the census of 1901 but none in Louth. http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/
