JOHN MCNULTY was born circa 1788 in the parish of Aglish/Aglass according to the records of his service as a soldier. He was married to Bridget, (maiden surname unknown) and they had at least eight children, namely William born circa 1819 in Mayo, Margaret born c 1820 in Mayo (married EDWARD MCHALE – see entry for Kilbelfad Parish), James born c 1821, Dennis born c 1823, Bridget born circa 1824 in Ireland, Catherine born c 1832 in Ireland, John born c 1833 in Ireland and Mary Ann born circa 1833 in Roscommon, Ireland.
John McNulty and his wife and family moved to the Wrexham area of North Wales, circa 1843, where his son William was already settled, and some of the in-laws of his children joined the family at the same time.
I would love to hear from anyone who thinks they may have links to the family.

Parish records for Aglish, Co. Mayo begin in 1838 for baptisms and 1824 for marriages so if either events occurred before this time in this parish there will be no records available. As John was born before 1864 when civil registration began in Ireland, there won't be a birth record for him either.

Hi Clare,
After an exhausting search for my Great Grandfather John McNulty I find that in your message, we may be able to help each other out. About 20 yrs ago a researcher Nancy Reeb sent me some spreadsheets of the village where my family is from. On those spreadsheets, there is no mention of my great grandmother Anne McNulty with a father John. They have her birth as belonging to William McNulty and Anne Barrett. When Anne and her sister Bridget married, they both have their father as John, the Tailor. So, something has gone awry, someplace for some reason and hopefully you can set me down the right path... There are 11 birth entries for both John McNulty and William McNulty. Ann, Bridget and Mary seem to have been born in the 1840's. Anne gave birth to her first child in 1873 so she was probably born abt. 1848 or so. She died in 1933.
