Does anyone know if probate records are common record types available in County Mayo or the late 1800s? By probate records, I am referring to any legal documents held by local governments pertaining to estate of deceased individuals. I've not come across any mention of these types of records and so I'm interested to explore whether additional information can be leared from ancestors who died in Gortmore along the shores of Lough Mask. I have three individuals - one who died in 1919, another in 1892, and one at some point between 1851-1900.

Two suggestions. Try www.familysearch.org They have Probate records from Ireland. You may also want to contact the Co. Mayo library to see if they can assist.
