I've found that a couple named Patrick Cleary and Bridget Flanery were married in the Catholic parish Crossboyne and Tagheen in 1838. I need to confirm that this couple had a daughter named Mary born in approximately 1855 . Baptisms of two of their children have been found, but none for Mary. Can anyone help me confirm that they were, indeed, the parents of my Great Grandmother Mary Cleary? Mary emigrated to Chicago Illinois around 1870 where she married an Irish man named Martin Melican.

Hi,
Thank you for your message.
Have you tried contacting the parish church directly for some possible assistance? Most Catholic records are still held locally so if Mary was baptised in the parish they will have the record. For parish contact details follow tis link:

A useful website when it comes to Catholic records is the Irish Times where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes and also where copies of these records are held. For Crossboyne & Taugheen parish follow this link:
Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.
Kind regards,
