Greetings... I am researching our Ormsby family history.  Joseph Ormsby was born approximately 1804.  We have traced him back to Castlebar, Ireland.  He married Susan Ferrins in 1828.  Unfortunately, they don't know who Joseph Ormsby's nor Susan Ferrins parents were.   The Tithe Applotment Book lists a Joseph Ormsby.. Diocese of Killare (not sure of spelling).. Parish of Kilbelfad.. County Mayo..   Also listed on the same page is a James Quigley.  I am not sure if Quigley and Ormsby of this generation are really good friends or related somehow.  Between 1848 and 1850 they left for the USA.

Any information you have regarding whom their parents were or Joseph Ormsby's baptism information would be greatly appreciated.

Linda

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out and apologies for the delay in getting back to you.

Records for the RC parish of Castlebar begin in 1838 so if Joseph was born in that parish there will be no baptism, marriage or death record for him or anyone prior to that date. As with your tithe search, you may have to go on an information gathering exercise, recording what information you can until such time as new records become available. The site below is very good for keeping up to date with new record releases:

I take it you have already tried rootsireland for the marriage record, on the basis that they were married in the bride's home parish, which, perhaps, was not Castlebar?
