We will land in Dulin on May 1, 2013 and would like to take part in the gathering.  We have traced roots to Mayo, Moygownah and Larhardan.  What should we expect?  What do we do to  participate?

  • Hi Richard

Hoping that your plans to travel to Mayo work out for you in May.

My name is Dympna and I am the Admin for Turlough, which is aprox 20 mins drive from Lahardane.  I am not sure if you have done any research on your family but feel free to ask any questions.

At the present time arrangements are being made all over Mayo for festivities for the Gathering.

If you log into the "Gathering Page" and keep an eye on events for when you are visiting, e.g. here is one event organised for Mayo.  http://www.thegatheringireland.com/Attend-A-Gathering/individual-gathering.aspx?eid=615&name=Mayo%20International%20Choral%20Festival%20Gathering

This is a nice website for North Mayo records (some Moygownagh records here)

I am also a member of the "Mayo Genealogy Group", our May Meeting will be Saturday 10th, you are welcome to join and meet us if you wish.  It is an informal meeting where you can meet amateur researchers, and get free practical tips on genealogy.
