You were right to check the 1911 census records for any McEarl's in the area. Do you have any specific information about your family history? If so, please post it on the wesite here. The more information that you can provide, the better the chance you will have in finding relatives.
The name McEarl is very unusual, so I wonder if there are variant spellings you should check. I would say that it is quite an unusual name, in which case, people from the local community should be able to recognise it.
Please post more information (if you know it) and perhaps someone locally will be able to help you further.
