Unfortunately, Aghabog RC parish has very few records in your period of interest. According to the subscription site Roots Ireland, Aghabog baptismal records are available for 1840-1843 and marriages are available for 1840-1842. The Roots Ireland index does not indicate which month in 1843 ( or 1842 for marriages) the records end. In any event my search on Roots Ireland for a Patrick McPhillips marriage to a Bridget failed to locate a record and there were no McPhillips baptismal records where the father was Patrick and the mother Bridget.

Except for a few baptismal records in 1848, records are not available until 1871  https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0283

I looked at civil marriage records and have identified three daughters of Patrick and Bridget McPhillips who married.

First, it appears Rose was married twice, first to a Peter McEntee and then second to Owen McPhillips. I then found Alice's marriage to Michael Connolly in 1899 and Catherine's marriage to James Fitzpatrick in 1892.

    Rose first marriage  https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_re…

    Rose second marriage https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_re…

    Alice    https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_re…

     Catherine third record  https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_re…

Let me know what questions you have.

  • Thank you so much for that information. I have the information on those children, and am pleased that I was correct in thinking they were part of the family but hoped there might have been some more on the other children. Would there be burial records somewhere? I don't suppose there will be headstones anywhere, though as Francis was in the RIC, I though there might have been one for him at least. Where would I look. I have found nothing to date.  Much appreciated for the quick response.

  • Arusha:

I located the death records for Anne and Francis in case you did not have them. See links below. I would contact St. Mary's church and see if they can assist with burial info.  https://clogherdiocese.ie/parishes/parish-details/?parishID=26

  • Thank you so much. I will write to the parish though I am sure I have done that before with no success!
