Hi Denis
I lived in that parish until he moved west to Co. Mayo in the 1990s. It is indeed a beautiful place.
Happy Christmas to you and your family
Best wishes

I have narrowed down the Co. Monaghan origins of my great-great grandfather James MR Murray (1794-1872) to Errigal Truagh before he and his wife Maria and their children Jane (married James Traynor), Matthew, Charles, James, Mary and Joseph emigrated to Ontario, Canada in 1846. Reading the baptism and marriage registers online through the National Library of Ireland database has been very revealing of that period in time. The records are spotty and very difficult to read. The pressures on the parishioners and clergy must have been terrible. I would love to receive confirmation that the Murrays that I have been reading about are indeed from Errigal Truagh. Cheers in advance, Colleen Murray, Stratford Ontario.
