My greatgreatgrandparents were James Johnston and Bridget Murnighan of Raferagh, where James operated mills at the time of Griffith's. Their children included Julia, Mary, Bridget, Thomas (2), Ann, and possibly Edward and John, all born between about 1840 and 1856. Julia married Peter Farrelly, Mary married Eugene McMahon, Bridget married Thomas Cosgrove, and Ann married James Hand. Both Thomases died in childhood. Edward may have been the father of the James Johnston who married Mary Finnegan and lived in Raferagh in the 1880s. John is mentioned as a marriage witness and godfather in the 1860s, may have emigrated. Is anyone else researching this family?

hi,
There is an organization that has been set up in Monaghan to help connect people to their Monaghan roots.
They contact any living descendants resident in Monaghan and try and make the family connection to you.
I visited Monaghan a few weeks ago for a Genealogy Weekend, and they had lined up visits for me to my ancestors the McGUIRK, McKENNA, and CAULFIELD families.
Simply go to the following Website, click on the "Registration Form" link and fill in the form with as many details as possible.
Regards,
SEAN
