My gg grandmother was Ellen McEvoy, born in Co. Monaghan c.1825. She married Joseph Holden / Holding /Houlding in Lullington, Derbyshire in 1856. Would love to hear from anyone with any info.

  • Hello Jinny, have been asked ot look at older queries and all bad news I am afraid, having checked Roots Ireland there is no baptism to suit, I looked at the start date for baptisms in various parishes in Monaghan and earliest was 1835 and a lot later for others.

    You could check the Tithes and I see 13 McEvoys there, not too many different places but nothing to actually hang your hat on.

    You could try to see if there is a private genealogy group on Facebook for Monaghan (there will be) and apply to join and see if anyone is researching who has more family info.
