In my search for Capt John Haire, died Glaslough, 1861 I have come across other people of the same surname.
In particular the Rev H Haire, A.M. of Aghabog-glebe, Co Monoghan.
With John being a Captain in the British Army and being grandfather to the Rev H. P Charlton of Burt, Co Donegal, I feel there might be some connection. Unfortunately I don't have a date for the Rev Haire. I found the ref via Google and then lost the link.
I ahve also come across ref's to Arthur Newburgh Haire-Forster, high Sheriff of Monoghan in 1899 and a Miss Mae Haire-Foster living with female members of the Leslie family on Corravahan, Co Cavan in the middle 20th century.
Any thoughts?

Dear William
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I am a bit confused! Have you verified that John Haire is the grandfather of H.P Charlton or is this want you want to verify?
Best wishes

Hullo CLare
Yes John Haire was the grandfather of Rev Charlton.
At the moment I am tracking other Haire families to attempt a connection to John.
Thanks

Dear Bill
That might be the best course of action! Have you managed to find anything in the British Army record?
The only reference I can see is in Lewis Topographical Dictionary:
