Has anyone any info to add to the following:
My great grandfather William Monaghan is down on the 1911 Census of England and Wales at 237 High Street, Jarrow on Tyne (now Jarrow, Tyne and Wear)
William is a 67 year old widower living on his own in a one room tenement (what we now class as a bedsit) at the address.
He has his place of birthplace as Davnet, County Monaghan, Ireland.
I take that to mean Tydavnet, County Monaghan, Ireland.
In the late 1860s to late 1870s William was known to be living in North America working as a cabbie (horse drawn cab) in New York, then for Thomas Edison at Menlo Park in the mid 1870s.
William arrived in Jarrow on Tyne to live with a friend Patrick Casey in the late 1870s.
He married Patrick Casey’s youngest daughter Catherine Casey in Jarrow in January 1881.
William’s father is down as William Monaghan a farmer (not present at the wedding whose wife is thought to be a Mary?)
Catherines father is down as Patrick Casey a labourer (he was present at the wedding)
William and Catherine Monaghan (nee Casey) are on the 1881 census living in Jarrow with Catherine’s father Patrick Casey and her older brother John Casey.
Patrick Casey’s wife Margaret Casey (nee Traynor) was not with them at the time of the 1881 Census.
Catherine Monaghan (nee Casey) died early 1903 in Willington Quay, Northumberland (just across the river Tyne from Jarrow)
Her older brother John Casey went on to become a town councillor and Alderman of Jarrow.
John is on the 1901 census in Jarrow aged 43 born County Monaghan Ireland, and he has two of his cousins lodging with him, Edward Trainor aged 26 and Patrick Trainor aged 23 both born County Monaghan Ireland
On the 1911 census John Casey aged 53 is living at 12 Grey Street, Jarrow with his wife.
And his birthplace is down as Killybough. Parish Tydavnet, County Monaghan
On the Griffiths Evaluation of Tenements in the Parish of Tedavnet (I have just found this on this site)
In the Township of Killybough there is a Patrick Casey (which surely is the same one as above) and next to him a William Monaghan (which surely is the same one or his father above?)

Killybough consists of 89 acres of agricultural land. In Griffiths there were only 7 farms in 1860, so it does seem almost certain these are your families. Both names had disappeared by 1901 and there were only 2 farms there then:

In the tithe applotment records, for 1826, there was only one farm in the townland, held by someone named Mitchell. So it looks as though your two families arrived in Killybough sometime between then and 1860.

Possible death for William Monaghan registered in Monaghan town, Jan ? Mar 1886 Vol 3, page 222. Est year of birth 1806.
You can order a photocopy from GRO Roscommon for ?4 per certificate. Put the place, year, quarter (where there is one), volume & page number on the application form (anywhere). http://www.groireland.ie/ You have to post or fax the form to them but they will e-mail the copy certificate to you if you wish. Tick the relevant box on the form.

Yes most probable that was William Monaghans (born 1845) father William Monaghan who died in Monaghan town in 1886 (will send off for the cert)

There are a lot of TRAYNORs, TRAINORs, TRAINERs, TREANORs etc. living in that Electoral District of Killylough in 1901.

My g-g-grandmother was a Rose TREANOR, I am guessing b.1840s - as the first child was born in 1869.
She married Owen McGUIRK of Annagally, Killylough so I would imagine she was from somewhere close, there were TREANORs in Annagally in 1901, and I don't think people looked too far away for spouses in those days. This is probably her brother James, but can't be sure..

There are some old graveyard records at the following website that might have some information for you.

If you have a local LDS Centre, you can trace the change of tenancy from Griffiths 1858 up until the 1930s, you would then see who inherited/took over the land through the generations.

My Great grandmother Catherine Monaghan (nee Casey) brother John Casey is on the England and Wales 1901 census in Jarrow with his cousins the Traynors (the name is spelt Trainor – but that could simply be due to the enumerator who took the census)

Looking back at what you said AA eg.

I notice on the Griffith's evaluation (1847-1864)
Patrick Casey and William Monaghan have next to them an Immediate Lessor (I take lessor to mean leasor or owner or landlord of the property)
The Lessor is a Henry Mitchell (that must be the same Mitchele on the tithe applotment record of 1826)
Henry Mitchell has a fair proportion of lessored (lessor) properties in Tedavnet on the Griffith's evaluation (1847 - 1864)
Going by the times Henry Mitchell would of most probably an Englishman or Scotsman who took over possesion of Patrick Casey and William Monaghans land and leased/lessored/rented it back to them and others
Some word that innit lessor - lessored - lessoring - landlessored - pennilessored -
