The Balliboy/Killoughy RC parish records start in 1821 http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0903  so baptismal records for Michael and Sarah will not be available. I did find baptismal records for Mary 1839 and Catherine 1841 in Balliboy.

The Roots Ireland record for Catherine had an annotation that the family left Ireland in 1841. Eleven children born in Australia

Thanks Roger, I have found them in Australia. Sarah Ann Curtis 1844-1933 is my direct ancestor on maternal side.Is there some way to trace backwards?

Hi Margaret, Michael and Sarah had a daughter Mary Curtis. Mary married James George Langtry and I am their descendant. Their son John James Langrty married Catherine Crinnion. This couple are my great grandparents. I am based in Sydney, Australia and planning to visit ireland this month. regards Kim Levy

I may have made contact with you before this time... I am updating the family tree as this year is the 180th year that our Michael Curtis and Sarah Molloy also with Mary, came to Australia ... a family reunion is to be held.

Hello Margaret, Kim and Mary-Jane

Pretty sure we are all cousins of some sort. My late mother Kathleen Monica Byrnes (nee Langtry) and I visited several places in Ireland in the summer of 1977 - most of the names you have already mentioned. We saw a parish priest in Lara parish, Co.Cavan, which is probably now spelled Laragh, who confirmed that the local church would have been the home church of James Langtry - who I think is the James George Langtry you mentioned. We then went on to Kilcormac west of Tullamore where we saw a parish register with marriage entry for Sarah Molloy and Michael Curtis - and my mother's diary mentions seeing 'granny Curtis's birth entry'. Unfortunately she made no note about which church but I am guessing there is only one Catholic church in Kilcormac - although we recorded it as Kilcormac-Birr and I see that Birr is the next town to the southwest. I still have some work to do to put a name to that granny. Your entries above have given me more than I knew of the Curtis side of the family, so thankyou. My mother was born in Marrar, near Wagga, in both of which the Langtrys are still numerous. Mum's parents were Phillip Langtry and Mary Maloney; they settled in Marrar which is a tiny hamlet 20 miles ouf of Wagga (basically a silo and a railway line through to Junee). I think James from Larah was Phil's father, and he had married Mary Curtis in either 1858 or '59 (ANCESTRY HAS BOTH DATES) in Keilor. I think that Mary Curtis would have been 'granny Curtis' my mum mentions in her diary as she is listed as born 1839. Do any of you know any more about this couple and their reasons for leaving Ireland? I can guess but I wonder if there is anything concrete in the records you have come across? I am off to Ireland in June and will retrace some of the steps mum and I took in 1977 (when I was 19). Would be keen to know anything you know about the family's activities in Ireland... farmers?
