  • A word of caution.  The C of I cemetery was used for both Anglican & Catholic burials, as were many of the "established" Church's burial grounds.

  • Thank you Jack.  I appreciate the information.  Have lots on the Kingsleys, especially those from around Nenagh, but think my branch settlled in the Clashagad area in the early 1700s and that line is proving to be much harder to trace. Again, many thanks.

  • Kingleys are connected to various C of I families in the are. 2 that come to mind are Benns and Healys. All of these families had men named Kingsley. There was land owned by our by my Gt Gt Grand Father (Healy, Rathmoyle) in the 1870s which, I am told, came from Kingsleys through marriage - Margaret Kingsley married John Healy of Moneygall in the 1810/1820s. - incidently Joseph Kearney (Father of Falmouth Kearney) was an executor of that John Healy's will. I believe that this was near Montore, which is a few Km from Clashagad. The Dunkerrin C of I records are present from that time, though the Bourney ones are lost. I must ask my Father for more information.

  • Was so interested in your information on the Healy and Benn families.  I had come across these names in my Kingsley research but didn’t realize they lived in this area.  Did some digging in my files and found a list of Marriage License Bonds for the diocese of Killaloe.  On it were your Margaret Kingsley and John Healy with a somewhat earlier date of 1773.  Also listed were Phebe Kingsley and Francis Benn in 1775, possibly the ancestors of the Richard Kingsley Benn buried in the Dunkerrin Cemetery.  I wonder if these women could have been sisters.  According to a Kingsley tree I have, Phebe’s parents were James Kingsley and Jane Kent; James’ parents were John Kingsley and Margaret Talbot. Now if I could just find some male Kingsleys in this generation!  Thanks for your very helpful post.

  • Think that you may have struck gold. I have spoken to father. That Margaret was married to John in Ballinakill, Moneygall. They had a son John, who had a shop in Moneygall and Married a Triphena? Their son James moved to Rathmoyle. The Kingsley ground was in the Ballinamoe townsland near Dunkerrin I think it was about 17 acres There are also papers at home with the name Kent on them. There was a James Kingsley Healy who was a grandson of Margaret Kingsley. I suspect that Margaret and Phoebe were sisters. The names Phoebe and Triphena were in the Healy family throughout the 1800s. Yes, Richard Kingsley Benn was a descendant. here is the Benn Family tree which was done before Obama visited Moneygall last year. http://www.eneclann.ie/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/obama-pedigree-small.pdf . Can you PM me and I will give you a contact for my father.

  • Thought I had posted this message a few days ago but don’t see it now so will try again.  Thanks so much for the link to the Benn tree.  I should have paid more attention to the Obama pedigree when it was announced.

Sorry I’m a bit dense but what is PM – personal message?  I couldn’t seem to find your email address listed anywhere but here is mine:  c-nation@sbcglobal.net   Would love to contact your father.

Hope I did the post correctly this time.
