I.m looking to see if I can find any information about my 3xs great grandfather,  Michael Jennings.  He died in Utica New York in 1884.  Per his obituaries he was either 80 or 84, came from Kings Co. Ireland when he was 20 yrs old.  He worked as a stone mason and a building mover.  He had 3 children, Michael Francis, John J and Catherine, who married my 2 xs great grandfather James ( nee Devery) Devereux, who came from Ferbane, Kings, Ireland.  I know it is not much to go on.  Thanks for any help.

Only one RC parish in Co. Offaly has records back to 1804. I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and the earliest Michael Jennings baptismal record in Co. Offaly was in 1846. So your Michael was baptized in a parish that no longer has records back to 1804.

I searched for James Devery in the Ferbane RC records and there were a number of possible records ( nine records between 1824-1856).

You may want to consider DNA testing and possibly you will get matches with others with either Jennings or Devery connections.

Thank you for your time and effort,  Roger.

I know my Devery family line came from Ferbane area, and his parents were Owen/Eugene Deverey and Elizabeth Rigney.  James had a brother Owen, who was still living, in that area, as late as 1940. He(Owen) was married to a "Kate" , but I don't know if they had any children. There were two other Devery siblings that stayed in Ireland.  Mary and Elizabeth. I don't know any more about Mary, but Elizabeth married Patrick Farley 13 May 1880 in Parsontown.  I would love to know more about James's siblings, and if I still have any family still in that area.

The subscription site Roots Ireland has five baptismal records in Ferbane where the parents were Eugene Devery and Elizabeth Rigney: Anne 1839 Bridgid 1846 Marion 1849 Peter 1851 Elizabeth 1857. Very possible that there were gaps in the baptismal records or possibly the Roots Ireland transcribers missed a record because of poor legibility https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0150

Here is Owen Devery's November 2n 1885 marriage to Catherine Duffy.
