    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

This may be Kate's family in the 1911 census.

    Let me know.

  • Thanks for your help and reply Roger but I don't think that is her.   I noticed there are two births for Kate Mulvihill in Boyle, one in 1887 and the other in 1888.  Kate ( Catherine?) died in 1930 after the birth of her 6th child Catherine McCann. I did find a death for a Catherine Mulvihill in 19 All the children went to various relatives.  Her daughter Catherine McCann b 1930 was raised by Owen Mulvihill and Margaret ? who are buried in the Kilmaryal Cemetery.  Apparently they lived in the Edenan and Kinclare, Mantua area.  I was trying to figure out the relationship between Owen Mulvihill and Kate Mulvihill. I believe Owen's parent's were Patrick Mulvihill and Mary Crann. Since last talking to you I sent away for Kate Mulvihill's marriage to Michael McCann and it said her father's name was John Mulvihill (no mother's name mentioned). I noticed there was a family on the census with a Kate and the parent's names were John Mulvihill and Anne.  Perhaps this is them?  Or is it possible that John is a variation of Owen?

  • PS. Meant to ask you?  Would a death cert in 1930 mention parent's names?

How about this 1901 census record?

    http://census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Roscommon/Mantua/Edenan_an…

    and this 1911 record http://census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Roscommon/Mantua/Edenan_an…

Notice that only four of eight children were living.

A death record would not show parents names unless one of the parents was the informant for the death.

This is likely the civil marriage record for John and Anne. Note names of fathers.

  • Wow!  You just made my day!  Thanks so much for the info! I will now order Kate's birth cert and also look and see if there is a Catholic Parish record of the marriage.  Maybe it will give the maiden name of John's mother.  There were a few Owen Mulvihill living in Edenan and Kinclare at the time and it has been difficult sorting them out with no maiden names mentioned but giving me his father's name is a bonus!! Thanks again!!!
