I will be in Ireland early April 2016.  My Dad's side of the family would be descendents of William Sadler Born 1751 (Ireland ?), William Sadler born 1777 (Roscommon), Thomas Sadler born 1819 (Roscommon), Edmund Sadler born 1877(Pakenham ONT), Harold Sadler born 1922 (Haileybury ONT), Vicky Sadler (me) born 1959 (Haileybury ONT). Looking for any possible family members.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I looked at the 1833 Tithe Applotment listings for Boyle parish and there was a record for a William and Edward Saddler in Deerpark townland. http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/reels/tab//004587408/00…

I did not see any Sadlers in the 1855 Griffiths Valuation listing for Boyle parish.

I then searched Roots Ireland and there was an 1819 baptismal record for Thomas in the Boyle C of I church records. He also had a sister Catherine born October 1822 and a brother William in March 1824. Also saw an Elizabeth Sadler baptized in June 1814. Father was William and mother was shown as Elizabeth Noones likely the same person as Elizabeth Nary.

I also located an 1807 marriage record for William and Elizabeth Nary. See below

Let me know if you have questions. Enjoy your trip.

  • Hey Vicky, I am curious to know if you made it to Roscommon and discovered any Sadlers there during your trip to Ireland?  I am a descendant of one of the Sadlers who settled in Pakenham, Ontario after emigrating from Ireland in the 1820s.  Great-great-grandfather was named James Sadler, born in Ireland in 1819.  James's father was named Thomas, born in Ireland in the 1700s.  Anyway, let me know if you are interested in comparing notes re: the Irish/Canadian Sadlers.

  • Hi Rodger, We did not make it all the way to Roscommon.  We went to Sligo and researched the Meredith side of my family and were very successful.  However, our time was short and we were busy being tourists.  I would like to plan an entire trip to research family roots.  Everyone in Ireland is always so interested in your family history and are very helpful.  There are still a few Sadlers in Ireland.  I did not get a chance to speak to any.  I wonder if Thomas and William were brothers?  Our family seems to like the names William and Thomas.  I would like to compare any notes you may have, my family also settled in the Pakenham area.  My email is vickysimard@hotmail.com.
