The church is the Cathedral of the Annunciation and St. Nathys which is in Ballaghaderreen town. The Cathedral is the seat for the Diocese of Achonry. All parishes in the Diocese are in either Sligo or Mayo except for the Cathedral. Ballaghaderreen and nearby townlands were in Mayo until legislation in 1898 moved the area to Roscommon.

It appears that your Costello family was from Knockanaconny townland which is the same townland my Roddy family came from before they died out. Knockanaconny is about a mile outside of Ballaghaderreen.

I located two Edward Costello baptismal records in Ballaghaderreen in 1866. Which one is for your great-grandfather? I can then check for siblings.

I forgot to mention that if your family was from Knockanaconny, I can check with someone to see if there are still Costellos in the townland. I know there are Costellos in the general area.
