I have records of my ancestors, family names TIERNEY and HICKS originating from Crannagh, Drum and Newtownflood, Roscommon and I intend to visit the area this summer. As online records are difficult to find pre 1800s I will be searching for inscriptions in graveyards to see if I can find out any more about them. I see there are three in that area that have been documented, namely Kilbegley, Moore South and Clonburren, but could anyone tell me where I may find others to check possibly in Drum or St Peter's Parish of Athlone? They would need to be cemeteries that were in use up to 1840.
Many thanks
Tierney

Tierney:
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I found the site shown at the link but no Hicks or Tierney records but there is an older cemetery and I would check with the Drum Community Centre.

Hi The Parish of Moore and Clonfad is quite close to the Parish of Drum. Contact Maureen Duffy a friend of ours who is a member of the Moore History Group and she may be able to help you. I will attach her email to this. Also the REcords in the Parish Church of St Peters and Paul are fantastic and kept very well. I will revert tomorrow as it is late here now with more helpful searches for you.
Kind regards

Sorry this is Maureen's email address. She is involved in the Moore History Group but is also originally from Drum herself.
Good Luck
