Hi Anita,
I have found quite a few possible matches,
For example, one very close match I found is that of a James Kenny married to a Bridget Killilea in 1868. James' father was Bryan Kenny whislt Bridget's was Michael, however these individuals are in Boyle, County Roscommon which isn't too far from Kilmacumsy, County Roscommon. This particular James and Bridget had children named Micheal , Winifred and Catherine. Are any of these individuals familiar?
Are there any further details that you may be able to provide that would help me to narrow the search?
Regards,
Anthony

Bryen's father was Patrick Kenny born about 1810 and his mother was Margaret Miskell born about 1810
Chatherine Kenny was my husband's second great grandmother born about 1859 , She married William John Fox born 1850 in Lambeth , England
We do not know so much about James and Bridget and there familys
We think Patrick Kenny/s father was Patrick too but born 1765 , His wife was Ann ( we think )
I hope this can help you a little more
Thank you for helping us

Hi, Anita,
I'm not sure the years you have given make sense, can you clarify them for me?
You see, from what I can work out based on the deatils you have given...
Catherine Kenny is your husband's great-great-grandmother and her father was James Kenny who in turn was the son of Bryan Kenny.
So, that would mean Catherine would have been Bryan's grand daughter. Correct?
Now, if Bryan was born in 1835 and Catherine was born in 1859, that would mean Bryan was just 24 when his grand daughter was born which just isn't right, because where does Catherine's father James fit in?
Maybe I'm just missing something. By the way, What was James' mothers name (Bryan's wife)?

I hope this can help
James Kenny [ abt 1840] married Bridget Killelea [ abt 1843] in Boyle, Roscommon they got merried 23 jan. 1868
Their children:-
Catherine, bapt 20 Feb 1870 Boyle, Co. Roscommon
Bridget, 30 Mar 1870 Boyle, Co Roscommon [so either this is a mistaken date or Bridget was sickly, and the parents waited before baptizing her]
Michael, bapt 13 Jul 1872, Boyle, Co Roscommon
James, bapt 27 Nov 1874, Boyle, Co Roscommon
Winifred, bapt 19 Jun 1877, Boyle, Co RoscommonBridget's father was Michael Killelea born abt 1815
James father was Bryan Kenny born abt 1805 ,
I have a big problem fining James mom and Bryans mom and dad
I was hoping to fine more about Bridgets family too

Ok, it's quite easy to get mixed up here, I've got different dates and different locations which is just complicating the situation. Although, it appears I have the correct family to begin with, I'm not sure how relevant Galway is to this family just yet. So i'll just run with details that I have found and we will see how it all fits together if thats ok.
Bridget Killelea was born on 7th September 1840. She wasn't born in Galway, she was born in Boyle, County Roscommon. Her mother was Bridget Shannon and father was indeed Michael Killelea. Bridget and Michael were married on 8th February 1827. They had four children...
Catherine (26/Apr/1830) - Maria (24/Jul/1833) - Jacob (24/jul/1839) and Bridget (7/Sep/1840)
Bridget married James Kenny on (23/Jan/1868). They had just four children... Catherine, Winifred, Michael and James
Regarding James and Bridget's children, I don't think that the record for Bridget Kenny dated 30th March 1870 actually relates to fifth child. I think this record has been mis-transcribed and it simply relates to the baptism of Catherine one month after her birth. It appears that the mothers name has been put in place of the childs name by mistake.
The marriage certificate for James and Bridget may be available from the General Register Office. This may give exact details of both their ages, but I doubt it very much and it would really be a "last resort" to purchase it since we already know any other information it could offer. This is because ages on marriage certificates are almost always simply listed as "full" meaning they were over 21 years of age or "minor" meaning they were younger than 21. Very rarely, were the actual ages indicated and if they were, then it was usually because they individual was a minor at the time. Given that we know Bridget's date of birth, and the date of their marriage we can work out that she was 28 when they married. I wouldn think that James was around this age himself and so they would probably just be listed as "full".
I have been unable to find anything else relating to Bryan's parents or James' birth just yet, but I will keep searching and report back any findings. Try to match up the details that I have given with your own details. That way we can paint a much bigger picture of your husbands ancestry. Oh, and pay particular attention to the dates! :-)

I was born in a village close to Boyle. One of our neighbours was a Patrick (Pat) Kenny , he had a son Jack & twon't daughters . Mary was the older of two girls. All have passed away.
I am aware of the girls families . Jack was unmarried.
One family live in Roscommon & Mary's family live in Swindon in the UK. Patrick was a wonderful violin player , he taught my Dad's to play as well. The both played on a band . Patrick in his younger days worked in south east of the UK.Our village is closer to Elphin ( 6 miles )
than Boyle. ( 10miles ) hence our parish information then was registered in Kilmacumskey.
Hope this is of use to your research.Una Shannon Mallia001
