I was wondering if there were records as to where specific people are buried in the Kilteevan cemetery. I will be visiting the cemetery in June and would like to visit the graves of my ggg grandparents Thomas and Elizaabeth Harlo Killion (Killeen) as well as my gg grandparents Patrick and Elizabeth Davis Killion. They lived in Derrinterk.
Thomas Killion (c.1811-1867)
Elizabeth Harlo Killion (1812-1902)
Patrick Killion (1853-1926)
Elizabeth Davis Killion (1851-?) after 1926 Parents were Matthew and Eleanor Mary Hanley. No dates known.
Bridget Killion Garvey (1851-1921)
When Elizabeth Harlo Killion died she was living with her daughter and son-in-law William and Bridget Killion Garvey in Kilteevan.
My grandmother was Elizabeth Killion and she came to the US in 1904. I know she was one of 12 children. Her youngest sister was Annie and possibly married a man named John Kelly around 1917.
If you can help me I will be very grateful,
Janice

I can't help you with your cemetery question. I did find only one civil death index record for an Elizabeth Killion in the Roscommon registration district which would include Derrinturk. This Elizabeth died in 1936 however the informant indicated she was born in 1865 rather than around 1851. You can get a copy of this record for around 4 euros from the General Register Office. Instructions are below.
Roger McDonnell
First Name Elizabeth Last Name Killion Year 1936 Year Of Death 1936 Registered Quarter/Year Oct - Dec 1936 Age 71 Year Of Birth 1865 Registration District Roscommon Volume 3 Page 155 Go to this link http://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Apply-for-Certificates.aspx In the middle of the page there are links for birth, marriage or death certificates. Hit the link for the form you want. You will likely get a screen asking for a User Name and Password. (This is a program bug that the GRO has to correct). Hit cancel and the appropriate form should come up. Print the form and complete the requested information. Also provide the information from the index record--quarter/year of the event. registration district and the volume and page number where the event is recorded. Make sure you ask for a copy which costs around 4 euros. ( A cert costs closer to 20 euros). You can also ask the GRO to e-mail the copy back to you.
