Hope you are well,

My Great Great Grand father is direct decendent from Ireland by blood "Moore".  He came to SA when their was violent anitics happening in Ireland between 1850 - 1870. He was a stone mason by trade and had a wife.

I think His name was Henry Arthur Moore.(Not 100% sure on this but close) and born in 1882 on the 22 Dec died at age 87 31 July 969 and his wifes which was born 1893, 2 June and died about May 1969,

My Great Grand father named either Henry Lionel Moore. Who was married to Katrina van Wyk from SA.

They had a 2 son's Arthur Venon Moore (MY Grand Father) married to Olive Smith moore (My grand Mother) also deceased and his Brother Gordon Moore, and their deceased sister Gertrude Moore.  Their late cousin name is Grace Moore wife of my grandfathers dads brother Alden Moore.

My dad and uncle come from my Grandfathers side, Mike Ian Moore and Lionel Grant Moore, Im the daughter (Chantel Moore) of Mike Ian Moore and now has a grand daughter Danielle Moore.

So please help us we would like to carry the legacy on of my great great grand daddy, and require your help here please. desperatly as my grandfather is getting older and would like to be buried in Ireland as where the blood flows thick.

Thanks so much and have a stunning day further.

Best regards

  • Chantel,

I am slightly confused by some of your information. You appear to say that your gt  gt grandfather ? Henry Arthur Moore - left Ireland in 1850 ? 1870, but then you give his date of birth as Dec 22 1882.  Which is correct? Which country was he born in?

You say that you are not 100% sure of your gt gt grandfather?s name but that he had a son Henry Lionel Moore who married Katrina van Wyk from SA. I would be inclined to search for their marriage certificate (which I assume will be in South Africa) in order to confirm his father?s name. Otherwise it?s tantamount to guessing. We really need to confirm the names and ages at each generation before we can go back to the previous one with some certainty.

  • Hi

Many Apologies, my wording was not correct,

    1. .  My (Great Great Grand father) "Henry Moore" is direct decendent from Ireland by blood "Moore".  He came to SA when their was violent anitics happening in Ireland between 1850 - 1870. He was a stone mason by trade and had a wife never mentioned in my family history.  He disappeared until just before his death.

    2. Henry Lionel Moore (Great Grand Daddy) and born in 1882 on the 22 Dec died at age 87 31 July 1969 and his wifes which was born 1893 Ireland, , 2 June and died  May 1969, he was married to Katrina van Wyk from SA.   , I will approach our home affairs in SA (although they are very slow),  as they deal with this kind of thing for marriage certificates and then ill send it through to you, must i attach on this or can I send to a email address.

Sorry for the confusion, Thanks so much

    Best regards

    Chantel
