Hi, I am looking for informaiton on my 3rd great grandmother, Her given name was Catharine Cline or Clyne, she was born Oct 23, 1823 in Ireland. She came to the United States around 1848 (New York) as Catharine McMyler and her spouse was Michael McMyler believed to also be from Ireland born about 1815.  They had 5 children all of which were born in the US.  There is also a Martin Barrettt McMyler that is on the census with their family whose name is later changed to Martin Barrett.  We are assuming he was a family members child that Catharine and MIchael took on as their own.  Catherine's fathers name was Patrick Clyne and her mothers maiden name was O'day.  I unfortunately do not know her first name.  I do not have any information on Michael's parents and have also been told that he is possibly from Wales and changed his last name to get work in Ireland.  If anyone has any information or  any ideas as to where I should look next that would be much appreciated.

Thanks so much,

Dena

  • Irish Civil Registration only began in 1864, before that you would need to check parish records.
