Am seeking information regarding the family of Catherine Lynch, b. 1843-1848 Cootehall, County Roscommon to John or Thomas Lynch and Mary Gaffney Lynch (b. 1802).
Catherine, Mary Gaffney Lynch, and Catherine's siblings Ellen, Thomas, John, Bessey, and Ann immigrated to Stalybridge, England sometime in the early-mid1860s then further to Lawrence, Essex County, Massachusetts, USA where they all appear in the US 1870 census. Another brother, Patrick, immigrated to the Hersey, Pennsylvania area to work on building the railroad during the American Civil War.
Any information would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you very much for your query to Ireland Reaching Out. Have you tried looking for the birth record of Catherine Lynch? This might give you more information about her parents. You might be able to find more information about her parents by writing to the parish priest.
Also check the National Archives in the UK for any additional details available about Catherine's siblings. You at least have a location for them, and a rough idea of when they emigrated to the UK. This should help you narrow down the Lynch's in the area of Stalybridge. The family might appear in census records or other official documentation there.

I know this is an old post. I hope you are still following it. I believe we have a connection. I have John McGrath married Esther Lynch in Cootehall 1872. Their daughter Anna Marie married Micheal Gaffney. His parents were John Gaffney and Catherine Flynn.

Yes, I still follow these boards periodically. Catherine Lynch was my great-grandmother--her father was either John or Thomas Lynch and her mother was Mary Gaffney. Catherine and Patrick Doran were married in Stalybridge, England at St. Peter's Catholic Church on 7/24/1866. John Lynch was listed as deceased on the marriage certificate. There was no information regarding Mary Gaffney on the certificate. As noted in my original posting, the Doran/Lynch family migrated to Lawrence, Essex County, Massachusetts in June 1867.
I traveled to Cootehall two years ago; however, found research there difficult and my time and research in Ireland was focused on County Kerry lines that were more productive.
My Lynch research has been moribund for some time and I appreciate your information. Sadly, I feel I have little to offer in return. Thank you for responding--I will keep the information in file and hopefully will be able to connect at some point.
