I have traced my Irish ancestors to Carraun, Castleconor Parish, County Sligo.  They were the children of Patrick and Mary Howley.  There were at least seven Howley siblings who came to the United States.  Six of the children settled in central western New York State in the mid 1800's.   They included Alice, Mary, Margret, William, Domnick, and Richard.  A seventh sibling, Michael, settled in Chicago and joined the Union Army.  He died in the Civil War in 1864 in the state of Alabama.  There were other siblings who stayed in Ireland.  I believe they included Patrick, Jr. and John.  I know that there are still Howleys living in Carraun and I am trying to find out more about those that stayed in Ireland.  Using Griffiths Valuation, I have found the actual farms leased by Patrick, Patrick Jr. and John.  They are located on Highways 59N just north of Ballina.  I have tried to contact a Howley, any Howley, from Carraun, but so far have not been successful.

Sorry for the late reply. I've benn locked out from posting comments until today.

http://www.eircomphonebook.ie/#    The online irish phone book has a Howley listing in Carraun. When you search, use County Mayo rather than County Sligo. Also make sure you use the Residential Tab.
