My ancestor, James Keaney (b.abt 1796), immigrated from Ireland to Hopkinton, Massachusetts, USA before 1860. I have found no immigration records yet.
His wife Bridget either did not immigrate or died before James & their 7 children came. The children, some grown, were John, Patrick, Michael, James, Mary, Charles & Paul.
Paul gave Sligo as his origin on naturalization papers. John's wife listed Killadoon in death records.
Any direction would be much appreciated.

Kathy:
The 1824-1825 Tithe Applotment listing for Killadoon parish showed a James and a John Keany leasing land in Barroe Lower townland.

The Killadoon (Geevagh) RC records start in 1851 and I was not able to locate any baptismal records.
The 1858 Griffiths Valuation shows a Patrick Keany in Barrow lower and other Keanys in Barroe Upper.

In the 1901 census, there were two Keany/Keaney families. One headed by a James the other Pat. Not sure how they relate back to the 1796 James

Thanks so much for this information. Now I need to formulate a plan. I cannot tell you how exciting this is after searching for so many years. I hope these Keaneys prove to be mine.
