I am looking for info in John Conlon and/or James Conlon. They were brothers. They were born in Ballyglass, Sligo. The birth dates would be between 1901 - 1905. Their parents were Thomas Conlon and Catherine Kilawee. I beleive at least one of them emigrated to the U.S. in the late 1920's. I believe their brother Patrick stayed in Ireland so I'm hoping someone might know the family. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I located a 1902 baptismal record for John Conlon on the subscription site Roots Ireland. See below.
I located the December 24th 1900 civil marriage record for Thomas Conlan and Catherine Kilwee. The marriage was held in the Templeboy RC church which would have been the bride's parish. Thomas' father was Pat and Catherine's father was John.
I did find the family in the 1911 census in Ballyglass. There were only two sons John and Patrick. The census form showed that Catherine had five children but one died. http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Sligo/Dromore/Ballyglass/768697/
I checked further for civil birth records on the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie and located an August 5th 1905 record for James Conlan but did not find his death record. Likely hed was the deceased child reflected in the 1911 census.

Castlemore Roscommon, Thank you so much for this information. I looked at the 1911 census but didn't see a notation about the death of a child. I thought James might have died as an infant/child but could find nothing to verify that. Could you tell me where on the census that is noted? I really appreciate your help.

Castlemore Roscommon, I just noticed the button that would have given me the info re: the death of a child. Would they have issued a death certificate if he died as an infant? He was born 7 months after Patrick and so would have been 2 months premature.

Hi Carol!
I looked for the death record yesterday and today and searched under Conlon/Conlan/Conlin with no success. My guess is that the parents did not civilly register the death. Likely he died premature, they baptized him and then buried him. You could contact the church and see if they have any records of his death.

Hi Roger,
Since John was baptized in Kilmacshalgan Parish, I assumed James was also. Since there's no church name listed on the baptism record, I don't know if I should be contacting a particular church or the diocese. In either case I don't know the name of the church and I'm not sure of the diocese. I found the Diocese of Killala and the Elphin Diocese but am not sure if either of those are the correct diocese. Would you know which church or diocese I should be contacting? I hope I'm not becoming a pest. I do appreciate all the help you've given me.

Carol:
No worries on the number of questions. Here is a link to the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Templeboy.

The parish is in the Diocese of Killala.
