My wife's great-great grandmother, Catherine Connaughton, was born in Annaghgowan, Parish of Kilmactranny, County Sligo in March 1851.  She came to the US in about 1864-65, married John William Brislin in 1869, and died in Rutland, Vermont on 02 Apr 1914.  According to her daughter, Highwood is the name of the place where the church was located.  Her father's name was Patrick Connaughton and her mother was Bridget Conlin, who was the daughter of Owen and Sallie Conlin.  She said that Father Dominick Noon (?) was the priest when she came to America.  Any additional information on the Connaughton or Conlin families would be greatly appreciated.  Please email me at jsromano1@gmail.com.  Thank you!

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

The 1858 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing showed the surname as Conaghton http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/sligo/kilmactranny.htm

By the 1901 census, there were no Connaughtons in the townland.although it is possible that a married daughter may have been living there.

The RC parish is Geevagh but the parish register is short. They have baptisms from 1873-1880 and marriages from 1851-1881. http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0560

I looked for possible dath index records and found this record in 1893 for a Patrick Connaughton. I could not find a good possible record for Bridget.
