Hi, my name is Robert Finnegan, son of Frank Finnegan (of Graniteville, Vermont) and Polly Parsons. My paternal grandfather was also Francis Finnegan (married to Genevieve Sullivan, daughter of Daniel Jeremiah Sullivan, son of Patrick Sullivan, birthplace unknown), who lived in Graniteville, but was born in Kings, New York. My paternal great-grandfather was Miles Finnigan, born in Templeboy, Sligo in Ireland. I know almost nothing about my Irish side of the family. My mother's side always considered itself English/Scottish, but my DNA came out as 44% Irish, 29% Scottish, 15% English and 12% Scandinavian. All peoples that have inhabited the Emerald Isle. I would add that I am currently studying for an MA in Gaelic Literature at UCC (University College Cork) and want very much to spend 3-6 months in the Gaeltacht to learn some Irish and 'dig up my roots'.

There was an Andrew Finnigan marrying Mary Price, both R.C., Feb. 24, 1829, in Templeboy, Sligo. Their other children- Mary 1830, Ellen 1833, and Bridget 1835.
