I have hit a dead end on my Great Grandmother Mary Ryan. The only information I have is the attached Marriage Registration and research notes.
If anyone has information on this family please contact me. My email is carroll_group@me.com
Her Father was John Ryan a farmer and the townland is spelled different on all records Bealageary - Bealageany --Ballygeag. She married Laurence Dwyer of Lisheenkyle in Kilcommon Chapel district of Borrisleigh July 13, 1879 it was registered Sept 6 1879
Kilcommon Church Marriage 1879.07.13 Dwyer Laurence & Ryan Mary
Sponsors Patrick Scully & Anne Leahy
Kilcommon Church Births : 1879.08.05 Dwyer Denis (Bealageag) Parents: Laurence Dwyer and Mary Ryan Sponsors: Thomas Costello & Bridget Costello .
Notes from my researcher on possible connections:
John Ryan and Mary Ryan
As Mary Ryan married in Kilcommon RC to Laurence Dwyer, we would have to assume that this is her home parish. By looking through the registers for baptisms we have found 3 children born in Bealnageag. Their parents were John Ryan and Mary Ryan. Based on this, I am quite confident that this is the right family as the address matches, in widening the search to children of John Ryan and Mary Ryan, many were found and in fact they can be divided I believe in two or many three family.
John Ryan married Mary Ryan on 11th February 1839, witnesses were Martin Ryan and Jerry Ryan.
They had the following children baptised in the same parish of Kilcommon:
1. Roger was baptised on 25 March 1840, sponsors were John Carew and Mary Carew, address is given as Boolununan
2. Nancy was baptised on 18th March 1842, sponsors were Mary Dan? Ryan and Judy Landers, Boulnonan
3. Martin was baptised on 6th June 1843, sponsors were Patrick Gorman and Bridget Ryan, Boulenonan
4. Nancy was baptised on 29th June 1845, sponsors were Laurence and Winny Ryan, Boulenonane
5. Mary was baptised on 16th December 1847, sponsors were Anne and Michael Ryan, Boulnonane
6. Honoria was baptised on 26th December 1851, sponsor was Mary Ryan, Boulenounane
7. Bridget was baptised on 22nd January 1855, sponsors wereTimothy Ryan and Winefred Ryan, Boulenounane
8. Michael was baptised on 24th September 1857, sponsors were Michael Carew and Mary Dwyer, Boulenounane
9. John was baptised on 28th March 1860, sponsors were Patrick Ryan and Amelia Ryan, Boulenounane
10. Lawrence John was baptised on 27th December 1862, sponsors were Laurence Ryan and Mary Ryan, Boulenounane
11. Mary was baptised on 23rd January 1866, (LDS birth on 28 January), sponsors were Matthew Ryan and Honora Ryan, Boulenounane
The other I grouped under one family though the address differ.
1. Margaret was baptised 26th December 1850, sponsors were Daniel Ryan and Bridget Ryan, address is given as Gurth
2. John was baptised on 18th June 1853, sponsors were Daniel Ryan and Bridget Lee, Bealnageag
3. Mary was baptised on the 1st July 1856, sponsors were Matthew Ryan and Sarah Dwyer, Gurth
4. Bridget was baptised on 19th June 1859, Sponsors were John Lee and Margaret Lee, Bealnageag
5. Winefred was baptised on 26th May 1860, sponsors were Cornelius Ryan and Margaret Ryan, address is given as Grousehall
6. Winefred was baptised on 28th January 1862, Sponsors were Thomas Costello and Bridget Ryan, Bealnageag
There is no marriage in Kilcommon RC to match this family. Having ruled that the top family is one and the same and though they had a daughter Mary born in 1847 who could have married in 1877, it seems she had died as a younger sister was also named Mary in 1866 who would be too young. It stands that the only and best possible match is the Mary born in 1856 in Gurth.
Gurth cross is located near a townland called Aughvallydeag. Grousehall is in a separate location however. Bally and Vally are pronounced the same in Irish. Having discussed with a local historian to check that my theory is correct, the name Bealnageag has not survived and we could not firmly insure that Vallydeag is the Bealnageag. There are two Lee families living in the 1850s in Aughvallydeag which would match the sponsors of Bridget born in 1859. There is a John Ryan in the Griffith Valuations also but of course there is a John Ryan is most locations in Tipperary so the Lee connection is more definite proof if at all that the Ryan one.
I think that this branch cannot be explored further without other corroborating facts.
