Hi my name is Patrick Carrigan, I recently found out that my ancestors lived in the Ballybacon are of Tipperary. I have found records of my ancestor Patrick Carrigan being baptized in Ardfinnan in 1831 with his parents John Carrigan and Mary Dudy noting that they all lived in that area. First off all I would like to know if there are any Carrigans still in the area that I could contact. Second if there are any other sources to find further records on these people that would be awesome. If you would contact me at my email patrickcarrigan9@gmail.com that would be great.

Warm Regards,

Patrick Carrigan

  • Hi Patrick, I am looking over the old queries and not sure you got any email, I think the RC Parish for Ballybacon which is a civil parish is Ardfinnan and if so there area church records back to the early 1800s https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/1089

I see at least one other sibling a Mary, also marriage is in Ardfinnan but under Waterford in the searches, parish probably straddles county boundaries. THe marriage took place 1st March 1835, only other information is witnesses were John Carriagan and Ellen Lyons, you should see it on the link posted.

There was another old Carrigan query I answered here a few days ago with an email for Waterford, think if you search under Carrigan on the site you shold locate it.

Also for relatives living in the area try some of the private genealogy Facebook pages for the various counties and sometimes eeven smaller areas.

    Good Luck

    Pat
