Looking for family of Andrew Hogan and wife Catherine Ryan of Ballygriffin, Co. Tipperary. Left Ireland with David age 2 in 1847. Spent 2 years in Canada prior to settling in Cayuga Co. NY in 1849. Married 1844. Believe Andrew born abt. 1815.
Record of her parents as Edward & Catherine Ryan from ??? Andrew's parents...no info.

Hi Elaine, I have been asked to look over unanswered queries on the site. At the remove you are looking at we rely on church records and they are often not available or have gaps etc. I see only one Andrew Hogan on Roots Ireland born 1817, Father William, Mother Mary Walsh, parish Ardfinnan, all the names you have especcially Ryan are numerous in Tipperary.
I see on David Hogan born in 1844 but while the mother is Ryan neither parent has the correct Christian name. This case the address is Holycross.
There are active private groups on Facebook doing Tipperary genealogy and some doing DNA. Apply to join and you may be lucky.
Also when they left it was "Black 47" the height of the famine so maybe records were not the best then. Often people went to Canada as it was part of the Empire and passage was cheaper, then then moved to the US.
