Visiting next week 8/14-17, looking for any info on family of Winifred Corrigan daughter of James & Mary Hoctor,  Ballyspellane North near Borrisokane Tipperary.
Also on John Healey son of John & Anne Kennedy also from Borrisokane and some siblings born in Birr.

Anyone know if these families still remain in the area? Suggestions on how or where to learn more while here.
I have parents death records and my grandparents baptismal records...that is all.

Thank you!

Nanette

  • What years are you looking for?

Where did the family go?  Looks like the USA the way you put your dates of arrival.

Dates of Baptisms etc would really help.

John Healy was baptized June 23, 1855. His father was a blacksmith.

Winifred was baptized Sept. 4, 1858. Her father was a carpenter. Her parents were married in Borrisokane, Feb.2, 1845.

  • Nanette,

This might be a stretch on James's death record Terryglass District was identified. I found this gravesite for a Michael Corrigan in Terryglass Cemetery. Maybe a relative?

  • Yes, those are all the correct records. I think it was Mary's death that was in Terryglass district? Milford?, not James (who was in Ballyspellane N?... It looks like Mary lived with her single son (census 1901) and went to live with her oldest daughter Margaret (Brasil) in Milfordore her death. Quite a few other Corrigans around the area.
Margaret later lived in Ballyspellane (after her husband died) with her single brother (1911 censu)s...after that I don't have anything.

Where did you find the marriage of Winifred's parents? I didn't have that. Might it have the names of their parents?

What I was hoping for was that someone might know of any descendents, or the best way for me to ask to perhaps find them?
Also what would be the best way to get original (certified) baptismal records for them? Church?

    Thank you!

  • Also John Healy (jr) was baptized on 23 June 1855...but on the next page he was also baptized on 7 July...He celebrated 10 June as his birthdate.
Any thoughts on why the baptism was documented twice?
