My ancestors lived in a small townland
Foileen na Finoga;
I found this name in the church records - Catholic parish of Kilcommon. It is not in any of the listings of townlands and someone on the Tipperary mailing list (rootsweb) told me it is now part of Turraheen Upper. I want to confirm this.
Two of my families were in Kilcommon R.C. parish
Margaret Crowe and Francis Ryan and Michael Roche and Mary Wallace. I know that Roche/Wallace married in 1841.
Their children, Laurence Ryan and Johanna Roche married in Doon R.C. parish - at the time they were living in Commonealine.

Mary Kilcommon is the old parish name encompassing present day joint parishes of Hollyford & Kilcommon. My Fox forebears came from Foilaclug Hollyford (1850-1895) which was originally in the parish of Toem ( Cappawhite). Turraheen Upper townland (2 miles from Hollyford village) was in the neighbouring parish of Clogher (now the parish of Rossmore/ Clonoulty). .I had a few duels on the hurling pitch with these hardy mountain lads. Hi from New Zealand.
I am trying to track down family who evidently were married in the Catholic Chapel of Kilcommon February 1870 and then later on in 1875 immigrated to New Zealand. Jeremiah Nolan who was a labourer living in Glensharold married a Mary Mahoney who so it is said was a servant at the "Park' which was probably quite common in those days. Seems like a lot of the estates were Parks but I have to begin somewhere on my hunt.
If there is any one who can help me please repond via this page.
Kia kaha - Keep strong. Thanks Dale

Hello Mary Colbert,
I too am researching this family because Margaret Crowe and Francis Ryan's son John Francis Ryan was my great great grandfather. He immigrated to Mount Hope, New Jersey USA where he was an iron miner for a while before moving to Yonkers, New York. Once in New Jersey John lived with Patrick Ryan, who I think was his cousin and also a miner, and married Mary Dwyer also originally from Kilcommon. Does any of this sound familiar? I would be interested in learning more about his brother Laurence and corresponding about the family. If you are still receiving information from this thread pleae let me know. I can also be reached at pamelashea2@aol.com
Best regards, Pamela Shea

Laurence Ryan married Johanna Roche in the Chapel at Doon. At the time they were living in Commonealine. They had three children in Ireland and them emigrated to New York where they had several more children. They stayed in NY for the rest of their lives. Laurence died in 1929. Their daughter Johanna/Josephine was my grandmother. I have a picture of Lawrence when he was older.
