I am searching for information relating to Robert Hyde (b. abt 1809) and Mary Connors (B. abt 1813). Robert and Mary migrated to New South Wales and arrived aboard the Aliguis in March of 1839. Their immigration documents listed Roberts parents as illegible Hyde and Mary Malony. Mary's parents are James Connors and Alice O'Neill. Both Robert and Mary gave their hometown as Emly, Tipperary. Mary was 25 years old at the time of migration they migrated with three children: Bridget/Mary, aged12; Michael, aged 5; and Joanne, aged 3. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

  • According to rootsireland, the couple had five children, not three. Year below refers to baptism year.

    Hyde Bridget 1827 Co. Limerick

Bridget was baptized 01-Oct-1827 in the RC parish of Knocklong & Glenbrohane in Co. Limerick. Sponsor: Ally Real.

The following four children were baptized in the RC parish of Emly, Co. Tipp. Michael’s record gives the home address as Emly.

Hyde Johanna 1830 Co. Tipperary (must have died, as a second child was given the same name)
    Hyde Catherine 1832 Co. Tipperary
    Hyde Michael 1834 Co. Tipperary
    Hyde Johanna 1836 Co. Tipperary

    I hope this is helpful.

  • Thank you Patricia,

Catherine also died as my 3G-Grandmother (b. 1844 in New South Wales) was also Catherine. Robert and Mary went on to have a further 7 children in New South Wales.
Given the birth of Bridget in Limerick, I wonder if they were both originally from Limerick as opposed to Tipperary and simply gave their last residence as their 'native place' on their shipping records? I may have been looking in the wrong place...
