Hello,
I am looking for any information on my 2x great grandfather Michael Egan. I believe he was born between 1808 and 1813. Possibily his mother was Margaret Bourke and his father John Egan. I've been told that he (Michael) was educated in college to be a priest, but he didn't finish. Is there a seminary around Kilfithmone?
He eventually traveled to the U.S. and settled in Chicago. He married Catherine Driscoll in Chicago, though he may have been married before.
thank you for any information.

Dear Mary
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
As you can see from the link below, Kilfithmore is a Civil Parish in Co. Tipperary:
Records for the corresponding Roman Catholic Parish of Drom begin in 1809 for baptisms and 1807 for marriages. I have had a look at www.rootsireland.ie but could not find any baptism for Michael. There are 4 records for other children born to a father first name Michael but none of them are to a Bourke mother. They are:
Catherine 1811, Co. Tipperary
Jane 1811, Co. Tipperary
James 1820, Co. Tipperary
Timothy 1820, Co. Tipperary
It may be that Michael and any possible siblings were bron at a time that predates the parish records.
There are a couple of Egan entries on the Tithe Withholders List mentioned below:

There are also Egan entries on the Griffith's Valuatin (1847-1864):

Even though these sources only record the head of the household, the information is very important and can be valuable. Have you tried searching Ancestry.com for any mention of your ancestor?s name in member family trees or messages?
Best wishes
Clare Doyle
