Hello, I am currently researching my Gayton line from Co Tipperary. The name Gayton was also often written as Geiton, Guiton, Geyton, and Guyton. My 3rd greatgrandfather Thomas Gayton (abt 1791-1858) emigrated from Co Tipperary (said to be from Clonmel where he lived on/near River Suir) about 1805, embarking at Waterford to Newfoundland and then eventually settled in Argyle, Nova Scotia, Canada where he married Anne Spinney (1879-1855) from Nova Scotia in 1814 and had eight children.
I find the majority of church records for Gayton/Geiton/Guiton/Geyton/Guyton are mostly concentrated in Co Tipperary, Killenaule dating back to the mid 1700s. If anyone else is researching their Gayton/Geiton/Guiton/Geyton/Guyton relatives from Co Tipperary I'd love to compare notes! Thank you.

The attached baptism record *could* be the baptism record for my 4th great grandfather Thomas Gayton. The baptism date is 1 Mar 1757, baptism place is Tipperary, Killenaule, diocese is Cashel and Emly, father listed as Jacobo Geyton, and mother listed as Maria Croak. My 3rd GGF Thomas Gayton's father was said to have been born about 1755 in Tipperary and he and married twice. His first wife was Eleanor. My 3rd GGF Thomas Gayton was said to be the youngest of eight from first wife Eleanor. The eldest of the second family was John. John emigrated to Newfoundland and then Argyle, Nova Scotia about 1816. John eventually emigrated to New York and then Pennsylvania where he died in 1882 in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania.
