Hello,

I have been searching for family history On Bridget Maloney.

I have found her obituary in the United States and it states that she was from "Neenagh" Tipperary, and was the daughter of James and Ellen Maloney.

According to census reports she arrived in the USA in 1868.

Any help I can get to find out more about her would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

  • Bryan: I looked on Roots Ireland www.rootsireland.ie for North Tipperary and they did not have any Bridget Maloney baptismal records for the period 1846-1852. According to their site, they have Nenagh RC baptismal records from 1845 on. I also searched for children of James and Ellen Maloney in case the first name was different but again, I could not locate a record. Roger McDonnell

    hi Bryan

I looked at www.rootsireland.ie for any children of a James And Ellen Moloney in the North Tipp area.

I found a James Moloney married to an Ellen Mulcahey living in Youghal, Youghalarra- which is about 3 miles from Nenagh, on the shores of Lough Derg.

They had the following children- James born 1854, Michael 1850 and Ellen 1849.

This might be a family to search, Sometimes children's baptisms failed to be registered, also I know from looking at Maloneys/Moloney families in the adjoining parish, that the spelling changed depending on whoever was entering the registration- they are very much interlinked.people from this area would say they were from Nenagh as it would be the nearest town.

Did Bridget's obituary name any siblings? Sometimes they did.

    Best wishes lulu

  • Lulu,

I am looking into Bridget's obit more.  It said she had a sister a Mrs Michael Ryan living in Lima NY

I have looked around at some US census and have found a Michael and Ellen Ryan living in Lima, it lists Ellen as being born between 1851 and 1853.

    Don't know if this helps
