  • Hi there,

Have you already carried out research on your family tree back to 1659? Or do you need assistance in locating records etc.? If you already have information about your family dating back to 1659, please mention this in your post, as I am sure there are others who might be carrying out similar research or who may be related to you.

Please make sure you link anyone else in your family who is interested in their Irish heritage to our site - and indeed anyone else you know of Irish heritage.

    Kind regards,

    Sinead Cooney

  • Hi

Family folklore states that all the Kinane's in the above townlands n Aherlow, are decended from 1 man, who arrived in Aherlow around the time of the Cromwellian settlement....While searching the 1659 census I found Morrish Quinane living on a farm in the moanour townland.... This farm was inhibited by a William in 1766(Hearth Poll) Edmond in 1832(Tithes Applotment) Daniel 1851(Griffiths) Daniel 1870 census..

By 1745 a Michael is recorded in Ardlomon, & the Michael name is recorded as head of household till 1901, when a James is recorded..

1766 records show a Willam in the Moor Abbey farm, Patrick 1832(Tithes & Griffith& 1871 census)

By the time of the Tithes Applotment 1832-- The Kinane's had by ? land division other farms:( All farms are attached by a gate, boundry hedge or seperated by 3 fields at the most)

    Edmond-Moanour- --Patrick-Moorabbey---Daniel-Ballycranna

    Michael- Ardlomon- Edmond-Brensha-James-Gortnacare-William Gortnacare

By the time of the Griffith Valuation 1851, the family had expanded more with

Daniel-Moanour-Daniel- Ballycranna- Daniel Cordorry-Mary Corroge Patrick Moor abbey

Michael Ardlomon-Margaret Breansha&?,son James Breansha, James Gortnacare, Willam Gortnacare.

I have very little info on wives and children, before 1860, but have most birth and marrages since 1860-

  • HI Jo

Some of the areas you have mentioned there are covered under the Parish of Tipperary and Galbally, if you are looking for certs for Marriages or Baptisms there is a place in Tipperary town which could help you some bit, they have records for Tipperary from 1780 for Baptisms and 1793 for Marriages, they also have records for Galbally from 1809 for Baptisms and Marriages. They do have a charge for the service, you can find them at  http://www.tfhr.org

    Hope this helps
