My grandfather was Patrick Mallon from Ballinderry.  He as born in 1860 and married Ellen Lynch (nee McGerr) in 1899.  I believe they may have been second cousins as the church register says they received special permission to marry.  There is no record of them on the 1901 census and the 1911 census shows him living with his brother James and sister Susan in Derrycrin and records him as being a widower.  Patrick Mallon married Rose Ann Corr, my grandmother in 1919.  I am trying to find out where did Ellen and Patrick Mallon live after their marriage and did theyhave any family.  Also who was Ellen's first husband (Lynch) and did they have any family. I have been looking to see where Ellen Mallon is burried, but can't find her in the church records.   Can anyone help me please?

  • I looked in the GRONI indexes but did not see any children born in what is now Northern Ireland to Patrick & Ellen 1899 – 1911. I agree that the couple don’t appear to be in the 1901 census. Had they moved to Scotland or England (as so many did at that time)? Have you searched there? I can’t see a death in Ireland for Ellen 1899 – 1911. Again might she have died elsewhere?

I looked for Ellen’s previous marriage but couldn’t identify it.
