Richard Marshall and Margaret Foster married in Clogher in 1846, had one son William, born 1848 before immigrating to Canada before 1851. They were hosted by the Church of England, and had 7 more children in Standon, Dorcester, Quebec, Canada. I am looking for any ancestral information to extend my search backwards.
Ireland, Select Marriages, 1619-1898, located the marriage in Carnteel, Tyrone, Ireland.
1851 Census of Canada East, Canada West, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia,
confirmed their arrival in Canada.
I am looking for immigration information, 1848 birth record, parent names, church or land records.
Thank you,
CCraven

Hi Caroline
Here is the marriage record from www.rootsireland.ie/:
You may want to susbscribe to rootsireland to look for ROBERT'S birth (father William) & Margaret's with father John; of not i can look for you.
For early land records try the Tithe Applotments (free) and the irish censuses of 1821 - 51 (free)

Col,
Thanks for your reply. The record should be for Richard Marshall, not Robert. Thanks anyway.

I assume you noticed that the wife's name is correct.
There were a lot of transcription errors and illiteracy which made for inaccurate records.
There was no marriage record for Richard.
This is the closest birth record for a Richard; there are none for Tyrone but his wife may have been from there so the wedding was in Tyrone

Col,
How are you getting this so easily. I took your suggestion and signed up with rootsireland. All my searchs were no records with that criteria or the wrong area of Ireland.
My memory says that the marriage certificate I did see on line listed Richard and Margaret in Clones.
This birth record is a great possibility and I know they were not Catholic. They listed the Anglican Church in the Canadian census.
Thanks for your continued reseach. You've lit a spark. Tyrone and Monaghan are right next to each other.

Oh, you got my heart a thumpin' there for awhile. But then I noticed the 1813 date. They were both born about 1826. I'm off to work now. Hey we both have the same initials. (wink)

How about these then?
