It can be called two names Donemana or Dunnamanagh which is said to be known as stronghold of the monks. A small village in the county situated 11 km north - east of strabane. It lies in the river burn dennett on the hills of the sperrin mountains. Its the biggest village in strabane with a population of 593 since 2001. The place was founded by James 1 in 1609. He was part of the Plantation of Ulster.
The 1821 - 1851 census were almost all destroyed by fire. The 1861 - 1891 census were destroyed by fire. Full details of the 1901 - 1911 census are available free of charge on line on the National Archives of Ireland website.
