Looking for information on my ancestors from Dungannon, John ARTHURS married a lady called Alice MC Shane.
John Arthurs mother I belive was an O'Neill possibly first name Bridget. John and Alice moved to Belfast and had children called Bridget, Daniel (who was my great grandfather) John, Sarah Jane.Joseph.
Any information would be appreciated, I cannot seem to find anything on John's wife Alice mc Shane.
Thanks in advance for any info.

Hi Charmaine
There is a record of the marriage of John & Alicia on www.rootsireland.ie/:
22-Oct-1844 Parish / District: DUNGANNON County: TYRONE No parents' names are given!
However there is good news!
There are 2 records of Alice McShane
So the first one is more likely as she waould have been 18 in 1844.
Let me know what you think; I can look for marriages of the parents if relevant.

I'm afraid there are 11 baptism records for John Arthurs 1815 + - 10 on rootsireland but none are in Tyrone. There is a couple from the northern counties. The lazy eejit who filled out the marriage form without entering parents' names or groom's address has a lot to answer to you for!
I couldn't find either of the marriages of Alicia's parents either!

Thank you for trying though I'm sure the Alice whose mother was Brig O'Neill is my Alice, somewhere along the line I heard that either John or Alice's mother was called Bridget O'Neill and the second Alice you found did indeed have a mum called O'Neill.
Thank you for your help and time I do appreciate it greatly ,

Just found out that my great grandfather's brother John Arthurs worked on RMS Titanic as a cabinet maker. He is featured in the Titanic Exhibition and his grand-daughter still has a chess board he made from cuts of wood when he worked on the ship.

I'm also interested in the McShanes of Irish St, Dungannon and their connection to my Hagan family.
Can someone tell me what the area was like in the early to mid nineteenth century?
