Lynds who left around 1800

Looking at the 1901 census for Ireland, there were 99 people named Lynd listed then. The majority were Presbyterian, with a few Reformed Presbyterians though a few were Church of Ireland and a few RC.

Your family were born long before the start of statutory birth and marriage records and so to find any trace of them you would need to rely on church records. The problem is that only a handful of churches have records for the 1700s. So there?s a strong chance that the records you need are lost.

Without some idea of where they came from it?s a bit of a needle in a haystack. You can see what Presbyterian churches there are in Tyrone & Londonderry on the PRONI website, but as I say only a handful have any records for the 1700s. (The records themselves are not on-line and a personal visit is required to access them).

Thank you for the info and advice!  Sadly I know the odds are against me here based on the lack of quality records and the timeframe.  I have turned over every stone I can think of to get a better clue as to what county/parish they came from and when they arrived and have come up with only "Ireland" as John & William both reported on the 1850 U.S. Census.

I found a researcher online a couple of years ago who claimed he was familiar with the name and had researched a LYND family in Tyrone that he thought was connected.  He offered to help me once he finished some other paid research but I haven't been able to find him again.  That gave me limited hope but aside from paying largely for a random and lengthy search of church records, my best hope is to find a LYND descendant or researcher who is already familiar with the places to look.
