I'm looking for info on the family of Patrick McAleer and Ann McElhone who had three children before they left Ireland in 1826 for Ontario Canada. Children were Ellen b.1816, Bridget b.1818, Francis b. 1825. They settled in St. Andrews West, Stormont County, Ontario and had six more children. Patrick b.1827, Ann b. 1830, James b. 1832, Catherine b. 1834, Andrew b. 1836, and Hugh b. & d. 1841.
I believe they came from Lower Bodoney Parish. I have recorded the Tithe Applotment Books and the Spinning Wheel list for Tyrone but without further info and relatives, I can't make a connection. I have searched many R. C parish films at the local LDS Church but cannot find marriage or baptisms for this family.
Any help would be most appreciated.

Rita,
The problem that you face is that the RC parish records for Badoney Lower only start in 1865. Consequently you are not going to be able to trace your family?s baptisms and marriages from church records. The tithe applotment records and Griffiths Valuation are OK for tracing people who had a bit of land, but if your ancestors were labourers/weavers or in other occupations where they did not have any significant amount of land, they won?t be listed. It can be extremely difficult to trace people in those circumstances. There are few other relevant records to consult for the early to mid 1800s.
