I am looking to understand where we might visit related to the following family:
Ellen McCoullough married to Owen McCann b. 1796. They had a daughter named Mary McCann b. August 22, 1845 in Tyrone, Northern Ireland but that is all the information we have. I believe they were Roman Catholic.
I have a fairly extensive tree on Ancestry but am so unfamiliar with the County/Township/Parish organization of Ireland and Northern Ireland that I am having difficulty making connections.
Thank you for any guidance.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I checked Roots Ireland for Mary's baptismal record with no success. Roots does not have all of the Tyrone RC parishes in their data base.. I also checked on Find My Past and they have a Mary McCann record in August 1845 in Kilskeery RC parish (which is not on Roots). However, the parish register is not very legible and I can't find the record to determine the parents names so I can see if the record shows Owen and Ellen. Do you have a record?
Any siblings that you know of?

Roger,
Thank you for all the effort you've put toward this. I do not have an actual record and our hard copy family records do not include any other siblings.
I suspect Ellen McCoullough might be spelled differently.
Thank you for the assistance! It is much appreciated.

This may be coincidental but I went to www.askaboutireland.ie There is a TAB for the Griffiths Valuation. I searched for Owen McCann in Tyrone and got back six records but one of the six was in the civil parish of Kilskeery. The Griffiths for Tyrone was published around 1859 so your Owen would have been around 63 and if he was alive likely would have been listed in the Griffiths. Here is the link to the Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Kilskeery civil parish. You will see there were a number of McCanns including Owen in Lifford townland. http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/tyrone/kilskeery.htm
So now you have a lead and we need more corroborating data. It is also your Owen is one of the other five listed or he may have died pre-1859 and would not be listed.

This could be a complete red herring - it is later than you're looking - but just in case it's not. My ancestor James McCann was born in Pomeroy, Tyrone in 1863. His parents were (anglicised) Francis McCann and Bridget McCulloch. They were married Feb 1853 Termonmacguirk, Tyrone. The Baptism and Marriage are in Latin, being Catholic. It would be interesting to see if we connect.
