I am looking for information on Hugh White. He was born about 1797 in Arboe, Tyrone Ireland and died Dec. 5 1881 in Perth. It is possible that he married Mary Anne Wood (1804 - 1900).
He had a daughter named Matilda in about 1831.

Valerie,
The births and marriage are all before the start of statutory registration in Ireland so you would need to rely on church records to trace the family. You don’t say what denomination Hugh was. Arboe Church of Ireland has baptisms from 1775 (with a gap 1813 – 1924) and marriages from 1773, with a similar gap. The Presbyterian records (Ballygoney) don’t start till 1848 and RC start in 1827. So if the family were Church of Ireland or RC you may find them.
The RC parish records are on-line free on the National Library site:
http://registers.nli.ie/parishes
You could try rootsireland (subscription site) to see if they have the Church of Ireland records. If not there is a copy in PRONI (the public records office) in Belfast. They are on microfilm and so a personal visit is required to view them.

I had a look but I'm afraid neither Hugh's birth/baptism or marriage or Matilda's birth are on www.rootsireland.ie/

Sounds like you need to get someone to check the Arboe records in PRONI in Belfast.
