William was born in Strabane as far as we know for my 8th gr grandfather.  He married Margaret Ukn. before 1769.  They had 5 children and I only know the birth dates of son, Robt. 1769 and Hugh 1771 both born in Westmoreland Co., Pennsylvania.  Perhaps one or all of the other children, Wm., Nancy &/or Eliz were born earlier.

I do know that there was a shop in the town of Strabane with the RIDDEL name on it.  Perhaps, some research there would shed light...although we are talking pretty far back in time.

    I don't think there are any church records for Strabane prior to 1769.  Have you contacted the Library in Strabane to see if they can assist regarding the Riddel shop?
