Catherine (Williams) Kelly, b. Aug 1840 in Co. Cork to Michael & Elizabeeth (Murphy) Williams, immigrated to the U.S. with her parents and other siblings in 1851. In Catherine's will, she named her deceased sister, Ellen Kane, and bequeathed money to Ellen's children (Mary, Patrick, Michael, & John Kane). John was then (1912) living in San Francisco, CA, but the will indicated that the other Kane children were living in Duffcarick, Parish Ardmore, Co. Waterford. Catherine also identifed John Foley as a deceased brother, and she bequeathed money to his children, Michael & John Foley, who were also reportedly living in Duffcarick at the time. I would appreciate any information about the Kane's and Foley's of Duffcarick. Jacqui

Duffcarrick was a small townland. In 1901, there were two families in the townland including Ellen Keane with her children and the John Foley you mention in your message. Ellen died in 1902. In 1911, there were four families in Duffcarrick including Patrick Keane and his family and John Foley living with them. After 1911, information is limited to civil records available for free at www.irishgenealogy.ie

Roger Thank you! I truly appreciate your help on this! I have been working hard on this information and almost forgot to send you the thank you. It looks like Catherine took liberties with the words "sister" and "brother". Ellen's maiden name was Foley, not Willliams. Now to find the connection between the Foley's and the Williams'. Catherine and her siblings were born in Co. Cork, and her parents were married in Bandon. Again, I think you so much! Jacqui
